Just Browsing: Pucci & Prada

Pucci bag

Ugh. Just browsing sounds like “just visiting” the jail cell in Monopoly.

I was surprised when I looked at that Bag Browser this morning on NYMag.com that the Pucci bag was listed as price “upon request.” Usually this is only for hugely expensive items. I hadn’t been to Pucci in a long time, so I decided to go and browse because just being in that store makes me feel happy.

I love when they open the door for me to come and go :) but I always feel like I’m being watched in there since it’s a small store and I was the only one there. The salesman was really nice though and we chatted. We both thought it was weird that the price was upon request because the terry bags usually aren’t more than $800 which isn’t terrible.  Even with leather handles, he said, it wouldn’t be more than $1600.  So yeah. The store was filled with gorgeous dresses, stretchy caftans and skirts, bold accessories. You can browse some gorgeous Pucci clothes here on eLuxury.

One thing I’ve learned from shopping at both designer boutiques and department stores is that sometimes the boutiques themselves have better sales. Last year I got a super thick Burberry cashmere scarf for 100-something dollars down from $450 at the store on 57th street. There are two Prada boutiques in midtown, so I went to the 5th avenue one first.  I wasn’t super wild about the new bags except the jeweled ones. Most of their bags are either beige snakeskin or beige leather right now. I didn’t realize, though, that in the back of the store there is a huge sale section. All of the stuff there is 50% off. They even have the Cervo Lux Lace Bowler.  Is this a recession thing, or do high-end boutiques really have sales this great? They didn’t have any spring lookbooks, so I went to the 57th street store. They didn’t have one either, but I got to look through a whole big binder of all the spring shoes! You can put your name and size down and they call you when the shoes come in. I really wanted to see the bags though. I did get a Pucci lookbook though :)

Want it, need it, love it: I’ve Found The One

When I did a post on this collection at Prada, this was the bag I had remembered seeing in a magazine and lusting after. I literally am speechless. I know the bag isn’t for everyone, but I could stare at it all day.

The entire collection of jeweled bags is amazing. It’s like someone finally took a bedazzler and put it into the right hands :)

Inexpensive Indulgence: Designer key chains

When I can’t afford something by a high-end designer (like Chanel) I buy a key chain. I’ve started a little collection. My favorite is a hot pink mink ball key chain from Coach from a few years ago that I bought on eBay. The soft texture helps you find your keys fast :)

My first purchase at the Chanel boutique was a $350 key chain with the classic strap and a star and the interlocking C logo. This summer, I purchased this key chain at the Chanel outlet. I love it because it has a cat with a little Chanel collar.

This season, Gucci made animal key chains as well. So cute.

Prada makes these totally j’adorable bears and other animals for key chains. If you click here you can look at the little diamond encrusted bears! Unfortunately, Prada doesn’t offer online shopping in the U.S. However, I’ve seen the bears at Prada boutiques. I wanted to take them all home with me. They also have small black and gold animal key chains.

Fendi has a few out right now, but they aren’t that cute. They do sell classic ones in the store though.

Eye candy at Prada

Check out this window display at Prada. The bag on the bottom right is very close to the one I saw in a magazine a few weeks ago.

Just give me the bag and no one gets hurt.

A few weeks ago I saw THE MOST AMAZING Prada bag in a magazine, and it’s killing me that I can’t remember which one it was! I cant find a picture of the bag anywhere, but this bag is to die for. It’s a Prada messenger made of python (I think) with jewels on it. Although it is not every-day-wearable, I still vote for it as an investment piece because you can wear it for years. And I need to justify its price tag, which was around $2500. So worth it. If you find it, please buy it for me immediately leave me a comment!

Coming in at a close second is this bag. Need it, want it, love it.
