This collection is INSANELY gorgeous. If I could sum it up in two words I’d call it modern vintage. Chanel Iman wore a gorgeous printed velvet blazer. I love the victorian blouses! The rhinestones! The chunky knits! The sequins! The brocade! I love everything. My favorite piece of all is the gray chunky cardi-coat with black chain detailing. Want!! Look how pretty everything is:

The color is called “deep anemone.” I have no idea what I’d wear this with, but I really like it :) It reminds me of something Whitney might wear on The City. (She didn’t wear this already, did she?) It just strikes me as womanly and sophisticated and very New York. Is it weird that I’m relieved that it’s “only” $385? The Staedtler is $595 so this is much more affordable compared to that.

It was really great to have the day off from work today for some shopping and relaxation. I’m super tired because I stayed up until 4 am joining Twitter and watching The City and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but I always surprise myself at how easily I can wake up early in the morning when shopping is involved. Anything else, forget it. But I’m glad my friend drove and not me because I was still a little out of it!
I was really surprised at how little selection of Milly, Nanette Lepore, and DVF I found in Neiman Marcus Last Call and Off 5th, although my best friend got a really cute Milly jersey dress for $22! Most of the Milly was several seasons old. I did get a set of Juicy Couture camis for like $21 though. I couldn’t resist them – they came in a candy-like package that made them look like smarties! And I would have been dumb not to get them since they were originally $78.
I was really disappointed in Gucci – the store looked like it was picked clean! – but there is a really great (and current) selection of things at Burberry and Diane von Furstenberg. I even tried on the Martin short jacket but the sleeves were a little too short. They have the black cardigan with white buttons that I think Blair will be wearing and other things that are still in stores. They have the Isis dress in pink navy AND black. Fendi had the ankle boots I wanted for like $260 or so – but not in my size :( These ankle boots I have been raving about also come in like an off white color with silver trim. 2. die. 4. These are the black ones.
I also popped into Brooks Brothers to scope out Black Fleece pieces. I did see an all-plaid cape and blazer, but not the ones Blair has worn on Gossip Girl. They were on a rack that said 60% off select pieces and the cape was marked down to $1299. I love the Black Fleece collection but its SO expensive.
So my main purchases today were a wallet and small messenger bag from Coach that I know I’ll get a lot of use out of. Nothing too exciting! No signs of my purple sequin cardigan at Catherine Malandrino. I only let myself stay in Juicy for like 5 minutes because I know otherwise I’d end up buying everything, and I had like no money today.
Sometimes I really like it when nothing I want is available or I don’t see anything I like, because then I can save up money for bigger purchases. AKA I have been fantasizing about this Swarovski Valentino…
I was just thinking about doing a post on the elusive spring jacket – the kind you can wear when it’s cold, but not cold enough to wear your winter coat. It can’t be too dressy, and it can’t be too casual. Is it so much to ask to have a jacket that’s versatile? Shopping for a spring jacket can turn from fun and exciting to a major chore.
Then I found this Martin short jacket by DVF, and I think it definitely has spring-staple jacket potential, though its a bit wintry.

These headbands were all the rage at the DVF Spring 09 fashion show. So where are they? Girls everywhere have been looking. Caroline at Musings of a Giraffe heard that these headbands were only created for editorial purposes and aren’t actually being produced. Can anyone shed some light on this? I will be devastated if Blair or Serena gets these headbands and I can’t.

I haven’t seen tonight’s episode of The City yet, but I remember seeing this jacket in a photo shoot in the previews! I saw it at Saks today too. It really is gorgeous. It reminds me of something a high-society lady would wear in the 19th century. I love it.

I’d really like to think that it will go on sale at some point since it isn’t exactly a wardrobe staple, but I think buying it at full price could be completely justified because of the intricate detailing and the fact that this will last you for many seasons.

I know I’m two days late in posting this, but I LOVED Whitney’s style on The City this week. (Episode 104: Good Things Come in Threes) I’m also a huge fan of all things DVF. I never really paid attention to the clothes on The Hills as much for some reason. The first piece I noticed was the white leather DVF blazer with black trim that Whitney wore to the Wonder Woman event. I’m so glad I have a Wonder Woman dress! They are on sale in lots of places if you are looking to get one. But I remember seeing the DVF blazer in Neiman Marcus over the weekend when I saw THE Fendi bag and remembered liking it – the leather is SUPER soft. It’s look #59 from their Cruise collection lookbook. It comes up as a google result on DVF’s site, but then you can’t open the link, and the jacket isn’t on the site. No idea what’s going on. I remembered it being around $645 though.
I also really liked the red dress she was wearing when Jay asked her to be his girlfriend (It’s Miguelina). That was the only cute thing he’s done in my opinion… I actually think he’s kinda gross. I noticed that when Whitney was talking to Erin, her closet is almost completely full of silk minidresses. They look really good on her. However, most people who work in an office in the non-fashion industry could never get away showing that much leg, especially with heels. I totally want to be Whitney Port’s new BFF. Call me! :) I will totally put an end to my developing girl crush on Olivia and her style.

Five minutes ago, dear readers, I was just like you – thinking, UGH, another celebrity clothing line? Gag! – when reading that Whitney was coming out with her own line. BUT then I read that the fabulous white jacket she wears to dinner with Jay is from the line! It’s called Whitney Eve. Here is the jacket in pink. I need it!! When Whitney and I are BFFs then maybe she’ll give me a discount on it.
